The Terre Haute Guitar Club

The Community School of the Arts’ Terre Haute Guitar Club offers unique learning experiences for children, teens and adults ages 4 and up. Our teachers - extraordinary guitarists and players themselves - lead this program using a fun, multi-layered and accessible approach to learning guitar through guitar classes and lessons.

Guitar Club students are placed in age-appropriate labs that meet throughout the week. As students progress through the program, they learn to develop their technical skills on the guitar while learning to understand and properly apply musical concepts. Students are given the opportunity to learn songs, all while building a connection with rhythmic, melodic and harmonic ideas. As students gain more confidence in and dedication to their practice, they are able to take one-on-one lessons with one of our trained instructors.

All Guitar Club students are given opportunities to perform with their peers during various recitals and community public performances.

Classes

The Terre Haute Guitar Club is for beginning to intermediate levels, offering an opportunity for students to learn to play the guitar and create music while working with a group of peers. During this 75-minute class, students will work on guitar techniques and musical concepts through engaging games and activities. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a final recital near the end of the semester. Guitars will be supplied to students in-class only. Students must have their own guitars at home to practice in-between classes. Rental guitars are available for the duration of the semester, please contact office for further details. For private instruction, 15 weeks of 15-minute lessons will allow students to benefit from one-on-one instruction with teacher. Private lessons are scheduled at a mutually agreeable time, between student and instructor.
